Course Description

Nowadays, composers who write for film, television and video games are more like enterprises rather than solo entrepreneurs. Most composers rely on the partnership of other artists—be they assistants, music editors, orchestrators, copyists, engineers, contractors, conductors, musicians… How do all these moving pieces function in concert with each other?

We’ll look at the scope and different requirements of the various members of the composing team through a variety of projects: two TV series, an animated short and a triple-A video game title. Upon completion of the course, students will gain an understanding of when and how to build a successful team of collaborators.
