“Live” streaming session with Marco BELTRAMI – The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada

Join us “live” for another segment in our ETHOS guest artist series, featuring Marco Beltrami & Buck Sanders (dates are subject to change)

Featured Guest Artists; Marco Beltrami & Buck Sanders

EVENT: an educational workshop in film scoring with 2-time Oscar nominee, Hollywood composer, Marco Beltrami (“310 to Yuma”, “The Hurt Locker”), and his team, Buck Sanders and Jon Kurlander.

In this setting, Marco Beltrami and collaborator, Buck Sanders, worked directly with the student composers to explore the scoring process for one of Marco’s previous film projects, “The 3 Burials of Melquiades Estrada”, written by Guillermo Arriaga (“Babel”, “21 Grams” and “Amores Perros”) directed by Tommy Lee Jones. Marco and Buck mentored the students through the entire creative process; spotted the film and selected 5 scenes for the students to create new, original music. With direct support from ASCAP, we recorded and produced the students’ music with members of the of the Hollywood Studio Orchestra, contracted by Peter Rotter. The session was mixed by award winning engineer, Jon Kurlander (Lord of the Rings: “The Fellowship of the Ring”, “The Two Towers” and “Return of the King”), and broadcast live via the internet, hosted by BitGravity.

WHERE: Pianella Studio

WHEN: Friday, September 16 from 10AM – 5PM

Thanks to SONY Pictures Classics and director, Tommy Lee Jones for their permission to use the film for this educational project.
